About the show:

BARE is a powerful, contemporary rock musical that follows a group of high school seniors at a Catholic boarding school in the 1990’s as they navigate the complex terrain of self-discovery, love, and identity. At the heart of the story are Jason and Peter, two students who grapple with their forbidden love while contending with the oppressive expectations of their religious school, their peers, and their families. As they search for acceptance, the students wrestle with their beliefs, their desires, and the weight of societal pressures, all while confronting their personal fears and hopes for the future.

BARE is an exploration of sexuality, mental health, and the longing for connection, set against a backdrop of soaring melodies and emotional ballads. The musical’s score, with its mix of pop, rock, and heartfelt anthems, speaks directly to the hearts of today’s audience—offering a blend of emotional depth and unforgettable music that resonates with anyone who has ever felt like they didn’t fit in.

Directors note about Nadia

Nadia is a dynamic character who represents resilience and self-acceptance. She has the challenges of being typecast into smaller roles due to her size, yet her talent shines brightly through her powerful songs. Throughout her journey, Nadia evolves from the need to be strong to embracing her true self and letting go of her shield. Her transformation highlights importance of self-love and challenges industry stereotypes, making her a crucial figure in advocating for greater diversity in casting. Art imitates life, and life has fat people. Therefore, these characters need to be represented in our art.
